Fresh from the oven

Founded in 2020, our pottery shop takes its name from the village of Viscri in Transylvania, a place of unhurried rhythms and deep craft traditions. That spirit — making things slowly, making them well, making them to last — is woven into everything we do.

Our pieces are wheel-thrown and hand-glazed in small batches, then fired in our electric kiln.

The process

The piece is modelled by hand, dried slowly in the shade, fired once in the oven, painted by hand, then glazed and fired again for its final finish.

I. Modelling — Shaping the Form

The clay is worked by hand, pressed, turned, and guided into its initial shape. This is where the piece gains its structure and personality.

II. Drying in the Shade — Slow Stabilisation

The clay is worked by hand, pressed, turned, and guided into its initial shape. This is where the piece gains its structure and personality.

III. First Firing — Strength in the Oven

The clay is worked by hand, pressed, turned, and guided into its initial shape. This is where the piece gains its structure and personality.

IV. Painting — Adding Character

The clay is worked by hand, pressed, turned, and guided into its initial shape. This is where the piece gains its structure and personality.

V. Final Glazing & Firing — The Finish

The shaped form rests in a cool, shaded space, allowing moisture to evaporate naturally. This slow drying prevents cracks and prepares the clay for firing.

Working with clay is a slow conversation. You guide it, but you also let it guide you. Every piece carries a trace of that dialogue — the pressure of a thumb, the curve of a moment, the patience of the process.
